Summer Program

Students traveling to Mongolia for the summer are placed with local volunteer host families in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city. Ulaanbaatar is a cultural hotspot full of museums, soviet-era buildings, and ancient monasteries! YFU students in Mongolia also have the unique opportunity to spend 4 days of their summer living with a nomadic host family in the countryside. These short-term host families are thoroughly vetted by YFU staff, and want to offer exchange students the most authentic Mongolian experience possible! Finally, YFU students from around the world gather at the end of the summer for a one-week camp in the Mongolian countryside, where they explore rural Mongolia and have a chance to reflect on their experiences with other exchange students.

Orientations: All students will participate in a one-day local pre-departure orientation in May or June, as well as an arrival orientation and basic Mongolian language course upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar. All orientation costs are included in program tuition.
