Mt. Everest

Join YFU on June 1 at 6 pm to hear a presentation by Andrew Towne - YFU alum and trustee who is scheduled to summit Mt. Everest in late May. Andrew will fly directly from Nepal to Washington, DC to share his firsthand account of his time on Everest.

This is Andrew’s second attempt to summit Everest – he was mid-climb when a 7.8 earthquake hit on April 25, 2015. Andrew has been on a quest to reach the “Seven Summits.” While climbing, Andrew brought awareness to the need for cultural understanding and intercultural exchange by raising money for needs-based scholarships for Youth For Understanding.

Other opportunities at the event:

  • Network with YFU Board of Trustees, alumni and supporters
  • Share stories and memories from your YFU experience
  • Get involved!
  • Grab some food and drink

The event will be held at YFU’s National Headquarters, located at 641 S Street NW, DC 20001. Reception is from 6 to 8 pm with Andrew's talk beginning at 6:45 pm.

YFU is conveniently located one block from the Shaw / Howard University Metro Stop and near multiple bus lines. Limited garage (fee) and street parking available as well.
